You cannot submit a new application because the Law on the allowance for the severely disabled has been replaced by the Law on care insurance. The 2 benefits cannot be paid together.

Residing in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a condition for continuing to receive the special allowance for the severely disabled.

When an application is submitted to the National Health Fund (Caisse nationale de santé - CNS) for care insurance, payment of the special allowance for the severely disabled ceases and advances up to the amount of the benefit received may be requested from the CNS.

If an application for care insurance is rejected, or if the applicant waives care insurance benefits, the allowance for the severely disabled may be re-instated.
