Special allowance for the severly disabled

The law of April 16, 1979 creating a special allowance for severely disabled persons was repealed by the law of June 19, 1998 introducing long-term care insurance, with effect from January 1, 1999.

Since that date, the National Solidarity Fund no longer accepts applications for the special allowance; however, persons who received this benefit on 31 December 1998 were able to continue to benefit from the provisions of this law as long as benefits under the long-term care insurance were not allocated to them.
