Beneficiairies
Conditions for obtaining the supplement
Any person who meets the following criteria is eligible to receive the supplement:
- Is admitted to an approved residential facility or supervised accommodation for elderly persons.
- Has the right of residence, is registered in the national register of natural persons and actually resides at their usual place of residence.
- Has personal resources within the limits of the law.
Persons who are not nationals of Luxembourg or another EU Member State or the Swiss Confederation, and who are not recognised as stateless persons or beneficiaries of international protection, must have lived in Luxembourg for at least 5 years during the last 20 years or have long-term resident status, with exceptions for certain family members of EU, EEA or Swiss nationals Switzerland or beneficiaries of international protection. Citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland (and their families) are not entitled to the supplement during the first three months of their stay or if they are in the country to seek employment, unless they are working.
Persons already covered by other benefits provided for by the law on free movement and immigration are not eligible for the supplement.
Prerequisites
The resident applying for the supplement must:
- be admitted to an integrated centre for elderly people (CIPA), a nursing home or another medical-social establishment providing day and night care;
- not have sufficient income and/or savings to cover the cost of geriatric care.
- have the right of residence, be registered in the main register of the national register of natural persons and actually reside at their usual place of residence.
